SEEDS OF DISRUPTION
ENDLESS POTENTIAL

seeds of Disruption
Young people come together to make decisions about how to run this youth-led organisation. This builds an array of skills including business skills, decision making skills and teamwork. There are opportunities to gain qualifications, training and take part in courses.

Advocacy
What makes our Seeds of Disruption unique is that the children and young people have control and responsibility over what happens from week to week and what choices are made for the group’s future. They also join in with campaigns, projects and consultations that they are passionate about.

Outdoor Activities
We work together as a team to support each other outside while doing activities and help to improve our local woodlands. Our outdoor activities include: tree planting, junior rangers, litter picking and other actions that tackle climate change.
ABOUT US
We exists because young people asked for it. They campaigned to have more creative activities and now they do! Seeds of Disruption SCIO is a free youth-led charity (formally known as Art Club) open to anyone aged 8-25 who lives or goes to school in Midlothian. We are able to offer our activities for free because we have received funding from Awards for All, Midlothian Climate Action Network, Vogrie Pogrie Festival, One Dalkeith, Queen Margaret University Edinburgh and our community sponsors. Thanks everyone for your support!

GOVERNANCE
We have just changed how we run, from being a project (formally known as Art Club) hosted by the Bill Russell Woodburn Youth Project, to becoming a youth-led SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) in 2024. Young people sit on the board and are fully involved in the structure and direction of the charity. They are called the Trustees in Trainings and have been instrumental in writing the constitution and developing the three year strategic plan.
